Lavender Notes

Stories that drift like lavender in the air, echo like glasses clinking on an Italian terrace, and sometimes crunch underfoot like gravel on a summer road.

For years I’ve been living and working in Italy. I get lost here, laugh, sigh in frustration and fall in love with this country all over again. Italy is my home, but also an endless source of stories. A place that challenges you daily: to slow down, to laugh at chaos, and to find beauty in the unexpected.

What you’ll find here are not tourist guides or “Top 10” travel lists. These are stories from real life in Italy: conversations that never end, rituals rooted in centuries, and fleeting moments that suddenly matter. A village that falls silent for a procession. An old man pulling his chair out onto the piazza, nodding at the world as if he were the mayor. A neighbor reminding you that tomatoes are only truly worth eating in August.

My notes are sometimes lighthearted, sometimes sharp, sometimes tinged with melancholy. But they’re always written honestly, with curiosity and an open eye. Because life in Italy isn’t about perfection, it’s about intensity.

About the smell of fresh espresso mixing with exhaust fumes. About laughter louder than bureaucracy. About lavender daring to grow between the weeds.
